HGTV has this project listed in their "Wedding DIY" section, which is great. However these cool vases can be used around the house...and not just for flowers. Depending on the size, they could be used to hold such things as pencils, letters, a newspaper, a mobile phone...

The cork bark begins to regrow immediately. The trees can live 250 years, all the time filtering carbon dioxide, generating oxygen, and creating an incredibly diverse habitat for plants and animals - not to mention producing a new harvest of cork approximately every nine years.
